1. Statement of Intent
Drone Security Solutions Ltd is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all its employees, contractors, clients, and the general public. We recognize our responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated regulations to maintain safe and healthy working conditions.
This policy applies to all operations, with specific emphasis on door supervision (including licensed premises and events) and windfarm construction security (including remote site access control, perimeter patrols, and contractor liaison).
2. Company Responsibilities
The Company will:
· Provide and maintain a safe working environment with safe systems of work.
· Ensure all employees are trained, competent, and provided with adequate resources.
· Conduct regular risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
· Ensure all incidents, accidents, and near misses are reported, recorded, and investigated.
· Regularly review and update health and safety procedures.
3. Management Responsibilities
Line managers and supervisors must:
· Ensure compliance with this policy and relevant legislation.
· Lead by example in health and safety matters.
· Conduct site-specific risk assessments and implement site safety plans.
· Ensure all staff have current SIA licenses (where applicable) and relevant windfarm site induction/training.
· Maintain communication with site management, emergency services, and company directors.
4. Employee Responsibilities
All employees have a duty to:
· Work safely and follow health and safety instructions and training.
· Report hazards, incidents, or near misses immediately.
· Use PPE and safety equipment correctly.
· Refrain from misusing or interfering with anything provided for health and safety.
· Maintain valid SIA licenses and attend required training or toolbox talks.
5. Specific Risk Areas
Door Supervision
· Conflict management and de-escalation training mandatory.
· Maintain incident logs for all events requiring intervention.
· Monitor and control entry per venue procedures, including refusals and ejections.
· Work in pairs or groups where risk levels require.
· Vigilance against drug use, violence, and fire safety issues.
Windfarm Construction Security
· Work in remote and potentially hazardous environments (e.g. high winds, moving machinery).
· Inductions and ongoing safety briefings coordinated with the principal contractor.
· Use of radios/GPS devices for lone worker safety.
· Awareness of traffic management systems and exclusion zones.
· Security officers must wear high-visibility PPE, safety boots, and helmets (where applicable).
· Emergency procedures must be known and rehearsed (e.g., fire, medical, severe weather).
6. Training
· All employees receive induction and role-specific training.
· Door supervisors must complete SIA-approved courses and first aid training.
· Windfarm security must undergo CSCS or equivalent site safety training where required.
· Refresher courses and toolbox talks conducted regularly.
7. Incident Reporting and Investigation
· All incidents must be reported to supervisors and documented on approved forms.
· Serious incidents are escalated to company directors and relevant authorities.
· Root cause analysis will be used to prevent recurrence.
8. Welfare and Mental Health
· Access to welfare facilities at all sites where possible.
· Mental health support promoted, especially for lone working staff.
· Employees encouraged to speak up about work-related stress or fatigue.
9. Review and Monitoring
This policy will be reviewed at least annually or following a significant change in operations or legislation. Directors and managers will monitor compliance through audits, site visits, and staff feedback.
